In what was always going to be a very difficult opening match Kells Blackwater found it tough going against a very strong Parkvilla side.

Kells Blackwater F. C. 12B Side put up a very spirited performance in their first league outing in what was a very entertaining game at The Grange. Despite going down 1- 2 against Skryne/Tara, Kells Blackwater F. C. were by far the better team throughout the whole game and spent most of the time in their opponents half and had most of the chances.
The first chance of the game fell to Bradley Caffrey on 2 minutess who was put through after some good passing play from Kells Blackwater F. C. only to shoot inches wide of the near post. Skryne/Tara advanced from the kickout and had a chance of their own only for Man of the Match, goalkeeper Redas Repecka to save well by smothering the ball at his opponents feet. Adam Donnelly won a free kick for Kells Blackwater f. c. on 6 minutes which resulted in Kells Blackwater F. C. advancing into the danger area once again with Ben Wiseman scoring, only to have the goal disallowed for off side. On 8 minutes Redas Repecka saved brilliantly again from a Skryne/Tara attack and sent the ball upfield. After a good passage of play Harry O'Higgins won a free kick for Kells Blackwater F. C. and it was sent up the pitch into the Skryne/Tara box where it was picked up by Gavin O'Brien who was fouled and a spot kick was awarded. The penalty was taken by Danny Murphy but was saved well by the keeper. The resulting corner went wide. The next Kells Blackwater F. C. opportunity fell to Joshua Goslin on 19 minutes who shot brilliantly only for the keeper to save it. Danny Murphy had another chance on 20 minutes to keep the Skryne/Tara defence under pressure and resulting from that attack Ben Wiseman had a shot on goal only to see if drift wide by inches. Gavin O'Brien won a free kick for Kells Blackwater F. C. on 24 minutes and following another good passage of play Kells Blackwater F. C. won a corner kick which went wide. Just on the stroke of half time Skryne/Tara went 1 nil up when Kells Blackwater F. C. failed to clear the ball in their area.
The 2nd half started the same way with Kells Blackwater F. C. putting on all the pressure and with just 5 minutes of the half gone KellsBlackwater F. C. advanced on goal with Gavin O'Brien scoring the equaliser. A more determined Skryne/Tara applied some pressure but again 'keeper Redas Repecka kept Kells Blackwater F. C. in the game with yet another fine string of saves. On 7 minutes of the second half there was heartbreak for Kells Blackwater F. C. as Skryne/Tara scored was proved to be the winner with a well taken goal which was sent high into the net from a tight angle. Kells Blackwater F. C. made a few switches with Luke Martin introduced for Jamie Rogers, Dillon Kavanagh for Gavin O'Brien and Larry Morgan on for Sean Mulligan. The changes gave Kells Blackwater F. C. fresh legs and after 20 minutes they won a free kick inside their opponents half. The free kick was taken by Alex Luddy which was sent well into the box but Skryne/Tara had players back in numbers and managed to clear the ball. KellsBlackwater F. C. introduced more subs on 23 minutes with Evan Shipp coming in for Ben Wiseman and Jack Rennicks on for Adam Donnelly. On 27 minutes Joshua Goslin was just off side after being put through by Dillon Kavanagh. A further KellsBlackwater F.
