Kells/Blackwater F. C. and Bailieboro Celtic played out and exciting Major Shield 1st round game. Kells/Blackwater F. C. went 1-0 up after 5 minutes of the first half when Nathan Osbourne scored from 7 yards. Then midway through the first half, Balieboro Celtic scored 2 goals in 5 minutes to go 2-1 up. Then 5 minutes before half-time, Oisin Smith scored a penalty to leave the scoreline 2-2. Midway through the second half, Bailieboro Celtic went 3-2 up. Kells/Blackwater F. C. progressed to the 3rd round of the S. F. A.I. Cup with this hard fought win over Swords Celtic. Chances were few by far in the game and it went to a penalty shoot-out with Kells/Blackwater F. C. goalkeeper, Cian McFeeney saving the Swords Celtic first penalty kick set them on there way on winning the penalty shoot-out.
