Kennedy Cup Report

4 players from the Kells Blackwater F. C. under 13 team represented the N.E.C.S.L.in the Kennedy Cup in Limerick recently. They were Patrick Farrelly, Paddy Byrne, James Reilly and Fionn Reilly. James Reilly was the captain of the team. At the start of the tournament, the N.E.C.S. L. were seeded 3rd in the group of 4.

The first game was against South Tipperary who were 2nd seeds in the group and they won 2-0 with Patrick Farrelly scoring the first goal in the game.

In the second game against the top seeds in the group Waterford, the N.E.C.S.L. drew 1-1 with Patrick Farrelly scoring again.

In their final game of the group the N.E.C.S.L. beat Cork 1-0 and lost out on goal difference by 2 goals to top the group to Waterford.

In the Bowl competition, the N.E.C.S. L. lost 5-1 to Dundalk. The N.E.C.S.L had plenty of chances in the match and also missed a penalty as well.

In the next game, the N.E.C.S.L. lost to the North Dublin League 7-0.

In the next game, the N.E.C.S.L. lost 2-0 to Cork to finish 18th out of 32 teams in the Kennedy Cup.

Well done to the 4 boys from the Club on representing the N.E.C.S.L. in the Kennedy Cup.
